No Kitties Were Harmed

Sorry for the poor picture quality but I couldn't resist these pictures.
Lulu has a plan she's putting into action. Look at the look of determination on her face.

She wants Killian on her scooter.
And, if he jumps off she will put him right back on. She did this about ten times.
Look at the look of satisfaction she has when she has him on the scooter.
Have a great weekend.

A Day At The Nature Center

I think Joe has been a little bored this summer. I'm trying to find free activities for us to do. It can be challenging finding things that will accommodate a seventeen year old and a seventeen month old. We had some free fun at the nature center this day. Doesn't Joe look like he's having fun? I love this picture of Lulu looking out at the water.

And that's our cheap entertainment for the week. Sky has been in California for the last month and it's killing me. I get to pick him up on Thursday, I can't wait!!!

I Love This!

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo
The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren't his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.
The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

The Potato Salad

Anytime I bring this potato salad to potlucks, church, work, family functions, I get several requests for the recipe. I even had a person stop me in the grocery store and ask why I haven't given them the recipe yet. Really, I don't have a recipe, it's just a way of making it that my mother showed me. But I will give you the main idea.

These are ingredients for a large crowd, you can cut them in half for family size.

5lbs of red potatoes sliced into quarters and boiled till soft but not mushy. If I'm using red potatoes I never peel them, just throw them into the salad peel and all. Russet potatoes I peel.

4 hard boiled eggs chopped

1/2 cup of chopped dill pickles

1/2 cup dill pickle juice

3 stalks of celery chopped

1/2 cup of sweet onion chopped

1tbs of salt

1tbs of mustard (for color)

1 8oz container of sour cream

1 small 12oz jar of mayonnaise

Cube the potatoes add the remaining ingredients in a large bowl mix and refrigerate.

My Son Has Talent

I don't know how he does it. Try it. It's impossible.

Critters

Yummy Jalapeno Goodness.1lb of Jalapenos
Half, seed, and scrape membrane out with spoon. I highly recommend doing this outside to prevent being choked by the jalapeno vapors.
Make sure to rinse off all the seeds. I even use the outside hose for rinsing them. Take one pound of bacon and cut it into thirds and a container of soft cream cheese.

Spread cream cheese with back of spoon onto jalapeno. You can do this inside.
Wrap with bacon and stick two tooth picks in each one.

Bake at 350 for one hour.
Enjoy!

Newest Arrivals

This little rooster is one of our newest arrivals. One of Sky's friends gave him to us.

Here he is giving me his warning sound that I'm getting to close to his hens.
These little bunnies are only a few weeks old. Unfortunately, four baby bunnies died in the heat wave last week. :(
A tiny little spider web I found in the grass. Lu Lu's hair is turning blond in the sun.Have a great day!

One of our newest additions, Killian, he has a tabby brother around here but he's been too fast for me to photograph.

Lily is a little water baby. That pool is the best $7.00 I ever spent!
